North Fork Karate
9/2009: It took a long time to update this page. Our dojo was finished in the fall of 2007. Keep scrolling for all pictures. Here's what it looks like from the inside and outside. We planted flowers in the spring and we are still doing improvements.

This is an up-to date photo (8/10/07) of the new dojo being  built on 2nd Street. dojofront of dojo

As of 06/21/07, we had completed the stem wall and Trombe Wall (passive solar collection), and  started on the sub-floor.  SIPs panels (The kind with OSB on two sides and insulation sandwiched in the middle) arrived in the next two weeks and were put up about a week after that.
Layout:  There is no image available, but the dojo space will be approximately 2400 sq ft on the west side of the building and will have a vaulted ceiling.  Most visitors and karateka will enter from the Second Street side into a reception area.  Sensei's office will be in the back and there are two bathrooms on the first floor.  Upstairs, their is a viewing area for the training area, and space to stretch, do homework and hold meetings.  Two dressing rooms, one further bathroom and a very small kitchenette will complete the upstairs.  We hope to have this ready to move into early fall '07

Update: 11/08/2007

Exterior Stucco is finished and Tom "Can Do Concrete" is pouring the front steps today (Wheelchair ramp will be in back).  Toilets are operational, there is heat in the building, the electricians are almost done and the upstairs railing almost complete.  The carpet is in, tile 3/4 finished and the wood for the dojo floor is acclimating, it may be started this week. We don't have pictures for a lot of this yet, it's been kinda busy.
